40th Antique Power Exhibition
The 40th Annual Antique Power and Steam Exhibition will be held July 30, 31, August 1, at Century Village in Burton. Equipment can be brought in starting after 5:00PM on Wednesday, July 28, and all day Thursday. If you will be bringing something in during the show days, please use the back gate if arriving after 10:00AM. Please be ready to show your membership cards at the gate, as the people running the gates are not HES members and may not know who you are.
We are planning on doing the tractor parade around downtown Burton both days this year. There are some changes that need to be looked into, such as a minimum speed for the vehicles participating so there are no large gaps. The route may also be extended.
As we did last year, we would like to try to fill the church lawn before we start setting things up in the field. This seemed to work out well last year, with more exhibits up front in the village area.
Raffle Report
We are continuing to take the raffle tractor to various area shows to sell tickets. Once again, if anyone is able to help with ticket sales or if you know of a place we could sell tickets, please contact David Metcalf at (440) 667-9860.
Show Program Report
The show program is nearly complete and will be printed soon. We would like to thank all those who helped getting ads this year as this is a great fundraiser for HES.
Website
We would like to thank club member Tim Ponn for taking over the maintenance of the Historical Engine Society website. The website has been updated and is looking much better than it has in a long time. Make sure to take a look, and check back often to see what has been updated.
Work Nights
Just a reminder work nights are every Thursday from 6:00PM – 9:00PM. All help is appreciated. Some things that have been accomplished so far include cleaning out the office trailer, maintenance work on the Allis Chalmers and Murphy’s RR locomotive, and repair of the gas tank on the Oilpull. Other items still on the list include repairing the sound system and replacing the loading area at Murphy’s RR.
